Dr Abankwa specialises in the rehabilitation of patients following traumatic brain injury, brain haemorrhage, hypoxic brain injury & subarachnoid haemorrhage. He is skilled in the rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis, brain inflammation and cerebral infections such as meningitis and encephalitis.

Dr Kayvan Khadjooi MD, FRCP (UK), PGCertMedEd, is a Consultant in Stroke Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Associate Lecturer in University of Cambridge, School of Medicine. He has extensive experience in all aspects of Stroke Medicine at a leading tertiary centre in the country.

Dr Khadjooi is the educational lead for Telemedicine in Acute Stroke Services in East of England and in his regional role he regularly trains many nurses, doctors and paramedics. He has set up several successful training courses, such as The Cambridge Thrombolysis in Acute Stroke Masterclass.

Dr Kayvan Khadjooi is the founder and clinical lead for Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation service in Cambridge University Hospitals, which won the AF Association Healthcare Pioneers Award 2019.

Dr Ashish MacAden, MBBS MD DNB PhD, is a Consultant in Stroke and Rehabilitation medicine at the Raigmore Hospital (NHS Highland), and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Rural Health, both in Inverness.

Dr MacAden’s career in rehabilitation medicine spans more than 20 years of experience in community and hospital-based work, a large portion of which was in an academic rehabilitation department of one of the premier medical schools in India.

A large proportion of Dr MacAden’s work has been with people with spinal cord injury and acquired brain injury, and he helped develop one of the first clinical gait laboratories in India.

Since moving to work in the Scottish Highlands, Dr MacAden has been involved in the integration of stroke and rehabilitation in Raigmore Hospital which offers inpatient services with 30 beds, a rapid access outpatient service for stroke and community and rehabilitation services to almost all the remote and rural areas of the Highlands.

Mamo, Jonathan – Dr

Dr Mohamed Sakel FRCP is the Director and Consultant Physician in neurorehabilitation at East Kent Hospitals University National Health Service Foundation Trust.

At his inpatient unit, Dr Sakel supports a range of cases including patients living with brain injury, multiple sclerosis, neuropathies, cerebral palsy, spinal injuries and young complex stroke survivors.

Dr Sakel holds honorary Senior Research Fellow in Electronic Engineering & Senior Lecturer positions in Psychology at the University of Kent, and his special interests include mobility robotics, neuromodulation and Botox in spasticity.

Dr Sakel has particularly extensive clinical expertise and experience in the field of brain injury rehabilitation. Within his role as the Director of a large neurorehabilitation service, he regularly writes medico-legal reports for the police and insurance companies for patients under his care.

Dr Shaw is passionate about prosthetics, an area in which very few Consultants specialise in the UK. He is based in Essex.

Dr Bach is the Lead Clinical Neuropsychologist in Acute Stroke at Croydon University Hospital. Her research interests include Music Mindfulness in acquired brain injury and stroke, the exploration of social cognition and quality of life as predictors of long-term outcomes in the community in acquired brain injury patients, the association between executive function and self-awareness in acquired brain injury patients.

She is also researching the development of a brief screening instrument for assessing social cognition in ABI.

In 2018, Dr Bach was awarded Expert Witness of the Year in in recognition of her specialised knowledge and experience within Professional Negligence.

Farrant, Anette – Dr

Dr Annette Farrant is a clinical neuropsychologist and member of the British Psychological Society Division of Neuropsychology Specialist Register.

Dr Farrant has worked as a clinical neuropsychologist across acute neurology and neurosurgery services, stroke services, community neuro rehabilitation, and in a mental health service. An experienced medico-legal expert, Dr Farrant has written over 200 expert witness reports in personal injury cases.

Hunkin, Vikki – Dr

Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist


Dr Vikki Hunkin BA(Hons), D. Clin. Psych, CPsychol, HCPC Registered, Pg. Dip, QiCN, is an experienced Clinical Neuropsychologist. She is listed on the British Psychological Society Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists and holds the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology – the Gold Standard – qualification in this field.

Dr Hunkin has experience in both NHS and private neuropsychological practice. Her main area of expertise is in neurological disorders which cause neuropsychological problems, such as: acquired brain injury, mild brain injury and post-concussion syndrome; stroke and brain haemorrhage; dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions; and long-term neurological conditions.

Dr Hunkin regularly undertakes Expert Witness reports for the Courts, including cognitive assessments, mental capacity assessments, and full neuropsychological assessments.

Dr Peter Cleland MBBChir FRCP has been a Consultant Neurologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital and Newcastle General Hospital since 1994.

Dr Cleland’s expertise includes the whole range of neurological conditions – including head injury, whiplash and low back pain, nerve injury, Epilepsy, Post-traumatic neurological syndrome, multiple sclerosis, memory problems and dizziness.

Dr Cleland has extensive experience medico-legal experience, writing both for the claimant and defendant and has carried out between 50 and 100 reports each year since 1984. Dr Cleland attended the Crown Court at Durham and Newcastle on many occasions and has frequently given evidence in Sunderland Magistrates Court.

Dr Cleland has also carried out a number of research projects in the fields of epilepsy, headache vascular disease and tropical medicine.

Fathers, Edward – Dr

Dr Edward Fathers, MB BChir (Cantab) MA FRCP, is a Consultant Neurologist. After completing training at Cambridge University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, Dr Fathers qualified in 1990, before becoming a Consultant in 2000. He now works at Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital, part of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, combining neurology outpatient clinics with the running a 15-bed inpatient neurology unit.

Dr Fathers is the specialist lead for multiple sclerosis in Somerset. His experience also includes working with the general medical Council and the National clinical assessment service (NCAS) undertaking fitness to practice assessments. He has senior management experience, which includes working as the clinical director in medicine at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Dr Fathers brings over twenty years’ experience to his medico-legal practice, where he specialises in neurology, and rehabilitation for MS patients.

Dr Cullen is an independent consultant psychiatrist in the fields of general adult psychiatry, liaison and neuropsychiatry, addictions psychiatry with a special interest in forensic psychiatry.

Dr Cullen has a Masters in Clinical Neuropsychiatry (2019), and a Masters in the Clinical and Public Health Aspects of Addictions (2005), both from King’s College London/Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital, London. Matthews, Andrea

Consultant Occupational Therapist and Advanced Practitioner of Sensory Integration


Andrea Matthews MSc BSc qualified as an Occupational Therapist (OT) with an MSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Derby in 2011. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT). She also has a BSc in Psychology, gained in 2004 from the University of Wales, Bangor.

She has completed comprehensive postgraduate qualifications in sensory integration with the University of Ulster and Sensory Integration Network to earn the title Advanced Practitioner of Sensory Integration. She is also a Rebound Therapy Practitioner (therapeutic use of trampolines).

Andrea has over 20-years of experience working with people with acquired brain injury. She began as a Rehabilitation Support Worker, before working as an Assistant Psychologist and then progressing to Assistant Manager of a 25-bedded residential rehabilitation service. She went on to train as an OT and has continued to work in the field of brain injury rehabilitation ever since. She has also worked as a Case Manager, supporting adults and children with acquired brain injuries.

Andrea specialises in acquired brain injury, dyspraxia, Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and sensory processing and integration difficulties. She works with both adults and children across different settings, including the client’s home, residential rehabilitation services, schools, workplaces, the community and in clinics.

She has experience of carrying out a wide variety of standardised and non-standardised assessments, writing comprehensive reports, providing Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy, Rebound Therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, functional therapy interventions and recommending equipment and adaptations.

Andrea set up an independent Occupational Therapy company in February 2014. In January 2017 she co-founded an interdisciplinary therapy company specialising in neurological rehabilitation with three like-minded therapists from psychology and speech therapy backgrounds. She remains a Director of both companies. In January 2018 she set up a Sensory Integration and Therapy Clinic in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Andrea leads a team of specialised occupational therapists across the Midlands and North of England, and also supervises a number of occupational therapists from other organisations.

Graeme has extensive clinical engineering experience including fourteen year’s experience working in various roles within the Regional Medical Physics Department, Bioengineering and Rehabilitation Engineering disciplines. Graeme has spent the last 14 years specialising in electronic assistive technology and has been responsible for helping develop Regional and National NHS provision around this technology.

Graeme has conducted a number of assessments and expert witness reports within this specific discipline.
