Ashish is currently a Locum Consultant in Stroke and Rehabilitation medicine at the Raigmore Hospital (NHS Highland), and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Rural Health both in Inverness.
Ashish’s career in Rehabilitation Medicine spans more than 20 years of experience in community and hospital based work, a large portion of which was in an academic rehabilitation department of one of the premier medical schools in India. A large proportion of Ashish’s work has been with people with spinal cord injury and acquired brain injury, and he helped develop one of the first clinical gait laboratories in India.
Since moving to work in the Scottish Highlands 5 years ago, Ashish has been involved in the integration of stroke and rehabilitation in Raigmore Hospital which offers inpatient services with 30 beds, a rapid access outpatient service for stroke and community and rehabilitation services to almost all the remote and rural areas of the Highlands.
