Medico-Legal Experience

A medical expert witness since 2013, Dr Bavikatte specialises in rehabilitation including acquired and hypoxic brain injury, traumatic brain injury including post-concussion syndrome, spasticity, stroke and poly trauma.

Dr Bavikatte achieved the Medico Legal Foundation certificate (CUBS) from the Cardiff University Law School in 2014.

Clinical Experience

Dr Bavikatte, Consultant and Clinical Lead in Neurorehabilitation Medicine at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, is a key member of the Cheshire and Mersey Rehabilitation Network.

In addition to his pivotal roles as Clinical Lead for both the North West Assistive Technology and Major Trauma Rehabilitation, his extensive expertise spans a range of disciplines including traumatic brain injury, polytrauma rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and stroke rehabilitation.

At the forefront of patient care, he manages neurorehabilitation, spasticity, and combined neurotrauma clinics in collaboration with neurosurgeons, psychology teams, and charity organisations. Notably, he manages patients across Level 1 hyperacute and Level 1b specialist rehabilitation units, offering care to those with acquired brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as patients grappling with polytrauma and other critical ailments.

Deeply committed to elevating the domain of rehabilitation, Dr. Bavikatte actively engages in undergraduate and postgraduate education through the School of Medicine at Liverpool University, as well as interdisciplinary training.

Special Interests

Dr Bavikatte has a particular interest in the use of botulinum toxin for the treatment of spasticity, hyperacute rehabilitation, polytrauma rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation and neuro rehabilitation following complex injuries.

With a keen research acumen, Dr. Bavikatte leads several research initiatives as the principal investigator. His literary contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications, books and a range of research papers and guidelines for neurorehabilitation.
