Medico-Legal Experience
Expert Witness Neurologist Dr Cleland has extensive medico-legal experience, writing both for the claimant and defendant and has carried out between 50 and 100 reports each year since 1984.
Dr Cleland attended the Crown Court at Durham and Newcastle on many occasions and has frequently given evidence in Sunderland Magistrates Court.
Clinical Experience
Dr Peter Cleland worked as a Consultant Neurologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital and Newcastle General Hospital from 1994 to 2017.
He continued to carry out regular outpatient clinics for several years after this time.
Special Interests
Dr Cleland’s expertise includes the whole range of neurological conditions – including brain injury, whiplash and low back pain, spinal cord injury, nerve injury, epilepsy, post-traumatic neurological syndrome, multiple sclerosis, memory problems and dizziness.
Dr Cleland has also carried out a number of research projects in the fields of epilepsy, headache vascular disease and tropical medicine.
