Medico-Legal Experience
Dr Vikki Hunkin is an experienced Clinical Neuropsychologist based in Cornwall.
Dr Hunkin regularly undertakes Expert Witness reports for the Courts, including cognitive assessments, mental capacity assessments, and full neuropsychological assessments. Her expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of cognitive and neurological challenges, allowing her to provide comprehensive support to her patients and the Courts.
Dr Hunkin is based in the South West of England, and will also consider assessments further afield.
Clinical Experience
Dr Hunkin is listed on the British Psychological Society Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists and holds the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology – the Gold Standard – qualification in this field.
Since 2009 Dr Hunkin worked as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. The Clinical Neuropsychology Service is a specialist assessment, consultation and rehabilitation service for adults with cognitive impairment secondary to known or suspected neurological illness and injury.
Clinically, her role includes assessment, focused intervention and consultation to aid in the differential diagnosis of cognitive disorders, to guide multidisciplinary rehabilitation, to assess mental capacity, and to identify psychosocial factors impeding rehabilitation. She has also provided training and supervision to other psychologists and allied health professionals.
Special Interests
Dr Hunkin’s main area of expertise is in neurological disorders which cause neuropsychological problems, such as acquired brain injury, mild brain injury and post-concussion syndrome; stroke and brain haemorrhage; dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions; and long-term neurological conditions.
