Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Vivek Nadarajan is a Consultant Stroke Physician with over ten years of substantive consultant practice and active medico‑legal experience since 2019. He accepts instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors in personal injury and clinical negligence cases and has completed the Bond Solon Excellence in Report Writing course (2018).

He provides clear, clinically grounded opinions on breach of duty, causation, condition and prognosis in cases involving:

  • Transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Acute ischaemic stroke
  • Intracerebral haemorrhage
  • IV thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy
  • Stroke aetiology and secondary prevention

Dr Nadarajan is experienced in acute stroke and TIA management, interpretation of clinical records and MDT documentation, and assessment of long‑term functional outcomes, including use of the modified Rankin Scale.

He holds professional indemnity (MDDUS) and undertakes all medico‑legal work in accordance with CPR Part 35, the Practice Direction on Expert Evidence and GMC guidance.

Clinical Experience

Dr Nadarajan has been a Consultant Stroke Physician at the Royal Free Hospital since 2015. He also provides regular hyper‑acute stroke cover at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), where he is an honorary attending on the HASU rota.

He leads acute assessment and decision‑making for complex neurovascular cases and runs the Royal Free TIA and neurovascular clinic.
His areas of clinical expertise include:

  • Acute stroke triage and management, including IV thrombolysis and thrombectomy pathway eligibility
  • Stroke aetiology work‑up and secondary prevention
  • Rehabilitation planning and functional prognostication following ischaemic or haemorrhagic stroke

Dr Nadarajan has previously served as Clinical Lead for Stroke Medicine (2018–2022), completed a Darzi Fellowship in Leadership & Management, and trained as a Stroke Subspecialty Fellow at NHNN. He is triple accredited in Geriatric Medicine, General Internal Medicine and Stroke Medicine. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national conferences and contributed to clinical trial recruitment. An educational supervisor and examiner, he is committed to training the next generation of clinicians.
