Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Emily Callan is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and experienced expert witness, with over a decade of practice in adult neuropsychology, trauma, and capacity.  She holds full expert witness accreditation from the British Psychological Society (2025) and is listed on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists and the BPS Directory of Expert Witnesses. 

Her reports cover complex presentations including brain injury, PTSD, mental capacity, and long-term psychological impact following trauma.

Dr Callan’s work extends into Medical and Health Psychology, and she is dedicated to managing patients with complex neurological disabilities.

Clinical Experience

Dr Callan is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist with broad experience in adult neuropsychology, trauma-focused therapy, and complex neurological disability. Her career includes senior roles in emergency medicine, neurorehabilitation, mental health, and community-based brain injury services.

Recent roles include Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Trauma Therapist in Emergency Medicine at Nottingham University Hospitals, Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist in acquired brain injury services with The Disabilities Trust, and Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Callan also works independently as a Consultant Neuropsychologist and Expert Witness through Seven Hills Psychology Ltd.

Earlier roles include inpatient stroke, adult mental health, community neurorehab, and academic roles in clinical psychology. She has worked with complex brain injury, functional symptoms, PTSD, trauma-related disorders, and neuropsychological rehabilitation across acute, community, and independent settings.

Dr Callan is a Senior Teaching Associate at the University of Bristol’s accreditation programme in Adult Clinical Neuropsychology.
