Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Fahim Anwar is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine with over a decade of consultant-level experience in specialist neurological rehabilitation. He has been providing independent expert witness reports since 2013, following formal training with Slater and Gordon and a dedicated Medico-Legal Expert Witness Course in 2014.

He accepts instructions in personal injury and clinical negligence claims involving complex neurological disability, acquired brain injury, polytrauma, spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal trauma, and progressive neurological conditions. His areas of clinical expertise include spasticity management, orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation, chronic pain, and long-term outcomes after trauma.

Dr Anwar provides reports on condition and prognosis, functional capacity, rehabilitation needs, and long-term care planning. As Clinical Lead for Trauma Rehabilitation at Cambridge University Hospitals, he brings a strong multidisciplinary and systems-based understanding to his assessments. His reports are clinically detailed, well-reasoned, and grounded in current rehabilitation best practice.

Clinical Experience

Dr Anwar is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine and the Clinical Lead for Major Trauma Rehabilitation at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has held this substantive post since 2016 and leads the East of England Specialist Rehabilitation Centre, one of only two Level 1 rehabilitation units in the region.

He provides specialist inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for people with complex neurological and musculoskeletal disability, including acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex polytrauma, amputation, and long-term neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and functional neurological disorder. His practice includes managing spasticity, orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation, pain management, and fatigue.

Dr Anwar previously worked as a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at the West of England Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre and North Bristol NHS Trust, supporting complex neurorehabilitation across acute and community settings. He has significant experience in service development, clinical leadership, and regional pathway planning, including establishing major trauma rehabilitation networks and integrated care models.

Dr Anwar’s specialist interests include progressive neurological conditions, early rehabilitation following major trauma, spasticity and posture management.
