Clinical Experience

Dr Adam Bevins is a distinguished Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and the Lead Psychologist for Stroke, Neurological Rehabilitation, and Neurology at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, a position he has held since February 2018. He also serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Exeter, contributing to the academic field since July 2016.

Dr Bevins holds a BSc (Hons), D.Clin.Psych., CPsychol, PgDip, and QiCN, reflecting his deep commitment to his field. His expertise lies in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology, with a particular focus on brain injury, neurobehavioural disability, dementia, stroke and Mental Capacity Act (2005) assessments. His extensive experience in these areas makes him a sought-after expert witness, where he applies his specialised knowledge to provide critical insights in complex legal cases.

Prior to his current roles, Dr Bevins has demonstrated a commitment to neuropsychology across various clinical roles including as Principal Clinical Psychologist at Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (May 2014 – February 2018) where he set up the psychology service for patients with stroke. Before this he worked in a specialist memory clinic setting for Devon Partnership NHS Trust (May 2012 – May 2014). His earlier roles include Clinical Psychologist positions in community brain injury and stroke, paediatrics, and older people’s mental health.

Dr Bevins’ journey in the field began with his initial work as an Assistant Psychologist in Adult Mental Health at the Dorset Primary Care Trust. His career reflects a broad spectrum of experience, underlining his dedication to improving the lives of patients by adopting a lifespan perspective.

Through his work, Dr Bevins not only improves the lives of his patients but also contributes significantly to the broader medical and neuropsychological communities through his teaching, research, and expert witness roles.
