Dr Cynthia Udensi is a highly experienced Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine with an extensive clinical background supporting patients with complex neurological needs. Dr Udensi brings her extensive clinical experience to her growing medico legal practice.
Clinical Experience
Dr Udensi is a consultant in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, specialising in Neuro Rehabilitation and major trauma. She has extensive experience in helping patients with severe neurological conditions, managing their care both in hospitals and at home. Dr Udensi manages complex cases such as prolonged disorders of consciousness and patients with spoecialist needs, including those requiring tracheostomy.
She has extensive experience in managing patients with severe neurological impairments, including acute and chronic assessment of rehabilitation needs within both hospital and community settings. Her experience in level-I and level-II neurorehabilitation specialist units has enabled her to gain advanced competencies and widespread experience in managing complex neuro-disabilities.
While working in these specialist units, Dr Udensi gained valuable experience managing complex cases, such as patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC) and those with high complex needs, including tracheostomized and non-tracheostomised patients. Additionally, she has managed progressive neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and has extensive experience in complex stroke management. Dr Udensi is also experienced in managing neuromuscular cases, including cerebral palsy and transition services, with extensive experience in both general and specialist rehabilitation.
In trauma rehabilitation, Dr Udensi designs treatment plans for patients with traumatic injuries and works on both immediate and long-term recovery strategies. Her experience in amputee medicine includes managing prosthetics and providing care for patients who have had amputations, handling both upper and lower limb amputations, and offering counselling before and after surgery.
Dr Udensi also has a strong background in musculoskeletal (MSK) rehabilitation and pain management having worked with palliative team, trauma service, spinal orthopaedics, pain medicine and paediatric orthopaedics units.
In spinal injuries rehabilitation, Dr Udensi gained expertise at the National Spinal Injuries Centre based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust in managing long-term spinal cord injuries and related complications. She is skilled in assessing and managing spinal cord injuries and continues to manage spinal patients in her current role.
Dr Udensi’s expertise in neurorehabilitation has enabled her to become fully competent in managing spasticity, including the use of various practical procedures such as botulinum toxin injections and Intrathecal Baclofen pump management and refills.

Dr Udensi has a special interest in Neurological Rehabilitation, Complex Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Major Trauma, and Musculoskeletal Injuries.
