Medico-Legal Experience
Dr Emanuela Molinari is a Consultant Neurologist with over a decade of clinical experience across the UK, Italy and New Zealand. Combining her expertise in both neurology and psychotherapy, Dr. Molinari offers a unique and valuable perspective in her expert witness work. Her medico-legal experience focuses on complex neurological presentations, including traumatic and acquired brain injuries, functional neurological disorders, post-traumatic neurology, and neuro-disability, particularly in the context of personal injury.
Dr Molinari is trained in medico-legal work and is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Her dual expertise enables her to assess cases where neurological and psychological factors intersect, providing nuanced and holistic evaluations of causation, prognosis, and rehabilitation needs. Her reports benefit from her extensive clinical background and international training, offering clarity and insight into cases involving neurological trauma and functional disorders.
Clinical Experience
Dr Emanuela Molinari is a Consultant Neurologist at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Beatson Cancer Centre in Glasgow. She has led the neurology service for neuro-oncology patients since 2017, overseeing complex neurological care for patients across the West of Scotland. Her role includes expert assessment, treatment, and long-term management of individuals with brain tumours, benign brain lesions, and chronic neurological conditions. Dr Molinari evaluates both cognitive and physical neurorehabilitation needs and works closely within a multidisciplinary team, which includes neurosurgeons, oncologists, neuropsychologists, and neurorehabilitation specialists.
After spending time as a Guest Researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States, she developed the specialist neurology service for neuro-oncology in Glasgow, the only one in Scotland led by one of the few UK neurologists with dedicated expertise in brain tumours.. This initiative resulted in the appointment of a dedicated neurology nurse and the establishment of a fellowship programme for trainees..
Her clinical experience extends to Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome (CCAS), traumatic brain injury (mild to severe), post-traumatic neurology, epilepsy, and transitional neurology for teenagers and young adults. She is also one of two neurologists on the multidisciplinary team for motor neuron disease (MND) in the region. Dr Molinari regularly participates in complex case discussions through the Functional Advisory Group, the Posterior Fossa sub-interest Group and other MDT forums.
Dr Molinari is actively involved in clinical governance and national neurological strategy. She is a member of the Neuro-Oncology Advisory Group of the Association of British Neurologists, where she regularly contributes to consultation documents and NICE guidelines. She led the neurology, neurorehabilitation, and supportive care subgroup of the Scottish Cancer Clinical Management Pathways and is part of the Tessa Jowell Neurology Working Group. Dr Molinari also provided expert evidence to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Brain Tumours at the House of Commons in 2018. As an educational and clinical supervisor, she oversees neurology trainees, medical students, and the Tessa Jowell Neuro-Oncology Fellow in Glasgow.
In parallel with her clinical work, Dr Molinari leads and contributes to several international research studies and clinical trials in neurology, neuro–oncology and electronic health data. Holding a Master’s degree in Biomedical Artificial Intelligence, she has secured funding as co-investigator for major research programmes, including a UK-wide cancer survivor surveillance project funded by Children with Cancer UK.

Dr Molinari has particular clinical expertise in acquired brain injury, neuro-disability, neuro-oncology and functional neurological disorders. She regularly sees adults with traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic neurology, and functional symptoms, often following road traffic accidents or other external causes.
