Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Nadeem Anwar is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He provides expert opinion in respiratory medicine cases, including asbestosis, pleural disease, bronchiectasis, asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, and occupational lung disease. He accepts instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors. 

His medico-legal work is informed by over a decade of respiratory training and consultant-level clinical practice. He has experience preparing reports on a range of pulmonary and general internal medicine issues and is able to assess causation, condition and prognosis, and standards of care. Dr Anwar provides clear, clinically grounded reports based on up-to-date practice and national guidelines. 

Clinical Experience

Dr Anwar has been a substantive Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine at East Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2018. He participates in the respiratory assessment unit rota and sees both inpatients and outpatients with a broad range of respiratory presentations. His clinical interests include general respiratory medicine, pleural diseases, bronchiectasis, and lung infection.

He trained in the North West deanery, rotating through major regional centres including University Hospital of South Manchester, Royal Preston Hospital, and Manchester Royal Infirmary. His subspecialist training included severe asthma, pulmonary oncology, cystic fibrosis, infectious diseases, medical thoracoscopy, and long-term ventilation. He also gained additional exposure to occupational lung disease and intensive care medicine during this period.

Dr Anwar has led or contributed to multiple clinical studies in pleural medicine and respiratory care, and remains actively involved in NHS research, including participation in national trials such as the TAPPS, IPC Plus, and COVID-19 RECOVERY trials. He has published peer-reviewed case reports and presented at BTOG.
