Medico-Legal Experience
Mr David Ormesher is an experienced vascular and endovascular surgery expert witness who accepts instructions in personal injury and clinical negligence cases. He acts for claimant and defendant solicitors, with an approximate split of 75% claimant and 25% defendant instructions. Joint instructions are considered.
He prepares an average of 60 to 80 reports each year, including reports for high-value clinical negligence claims. His work includes liability screening and triage, breach of duty and causation, and condition and prognosis reports. His opinions are CPR Part 35 compliant, clearly reasoned and evidence based.
Mr Ormesher completed the Bond Solon Civil Procedure Rules Certificate and Bond Solon Expert Report Writing Certificate in 2024. His training includes the British Medical Experts Medico-Legal Mentorship Programme and ongoing CPD in causation analysis and surgical negligence. He also works with clients who are claiming compensation from the Ministry of Defence for non-freezing cold injuries. Mr Ormesher also has prepared joint statements under CPR Part 35.12 and given oral evidence under oath. He offers face-to-face appointments, remote consultations and home visits, with travel available nationwide. His usual turnaround time is seven days, subject to the complexity of the case.
Clinical Experience
Mr Ormesher is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Manchester Foundation Trust. He is Medical Director and CQC Registered Manager at AVA Clinics in Manchester, where he is responsible for the delivery and governance of private vascular and venous services. Mr Ormesher is also the Greater Manchester Lead for Op RESTORE, The Veterans Physical Health and Wellbeing Service.
His clinical practice covers aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, critical limb ischaemia, carotid artery disease, diabetic foot disease, vascular trauma, haemorrhage, venous disease and vascular access surgery. His procedural experience includes open and endovascular aneurysm repair, angiograms, angioplasty, stenting, arterial and venous imaging, and amputation.
From 2022 to 2025, Mr Ormesher was a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. He formerly served as Quality and Safety Lead for Vascular Surgery. His earlier appointments include Chief Registrar for Surgery at Manchester Foundation Trust from 2021 to 2022 and Vascular Surgery Registrar in the North West Region from 2014 to 2022.
Mr Ormesher is an NIHR Principal Investigator for the multicentre THRIVE and PLACEMENT studies. These studies focus on venous thromboembolism and outcomes following lower limb amputation.
