Dimitrios Sampanis PHD is a Neuro Physiotherapist specialising in assessing lifelong requirements of physiotherapy of service users with catastrophic injury and providing supporting evidence in court and legal cases.
Dimitrios accepts around 15-20 instructions per year for personal injury and medical negligence cases. Clinical Experience
Dimitrios has a diverse background in physiotherapy and neurological rehabilitation.He is the Director and Lead Physiotherapist at Home Rehab Therapists and DS Physiotherapy Ltd, where he has been leading outreach multidisciplinary services since November 2012. His responsibilities emphasise goal-centred care, comprehensive needs assessments, and effective client account management. He excels in recruiting, training, and supervising support workers to provide personalised rehabilitation services.
Dimitrios also works as a Case Manager at CCMS, a position he has held since November 2017. In this role, he designs goal-centred care, support, and therapy programmes, conducts immediate and short-term needs assessments, and prepares initial case management reports. He is also responsible for client account management and the recruitment, training, and supervision of support workers, ensuring that high-quality care is delivered consistently.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dimitrios is an Associate Professor and Subject Lead for Allied Health Programmes at St Mary’s University, London. His role involves supervising and guiding academic staff, ensuring compliance with HCPC and CSP standards, and preparing the groundwork to launch a BSc in Physiotherapy within the next three years.
Previously, Dimitrios served as the Head of Physiotherapy and Consultant Physiotherapist in Neurological Rehabilitation at Ascot Rehabilitation in Bagshot. In this role, he was pivotal in developing services for a rapidly growing company with offices in London and Greater London. He managed a team providing inpatient, outpatient, and outreach care for patients with neurological conditions and established specialised clinics for spasticity, acupuncture, and hydrotherapy.
Dimitrios is experienced in advanced neuro-specialist physiotherapeutic techniques, botulinum toxin injections, splinting and orthotics, and acupuncture.
Special Interests
Neuroplasticity, stroke rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation, focusing on treating patients with balance disorders and dizziness through specialised physiotherapy protocols.
