Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Hayder Agha is a Rehabilitation Physician with experience in the medico-legal assessment of patients with spinal cord injury, musculoskeletal trauma, and complex rehabilitation needs.

His clinical insight draws on a background in both surgical and rehabilitation settings, and he is particularly well-placed to advise on prognosis, functional outcomes, and the multidisciplinary management of catastrophic injury. Dr Agha’s expertise includes pain and spasticity management, and neuro-rehabilitation following trauma.

Clinical Experience

Dr Agha is a Consultant in Spinal Injuries Rehabilitation at the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. His work involves the care of adults with spinal cord injury, severe neurological impairment, and complex rehabilitation needs. His is also the Department Mortality and Morbidity Lead.

His clinical responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, managing bowel, bladder and skin related issues, spasticity and pain, supporting patients with tracheostomy needs, and coordinating pre-admission assessments and discharge planning. He chairs weekly MDT and case conferences and is involved in service development, guideline implementation, and departmental governance.

Dr Agha has previously held substantive consultant roles at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (spinal injuries rehabilitation), Salford Royal Hospital (trauma and musculoskeletal rehabilitation), and Headley Court (military MSK and spinal rehabilitation). He has also worked in neuro-rehabilitation posts at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and the Oxford Centre for Enablement.

His early medical background includes surgical training and an MSc in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London. He is also experienced in prosthetic and orthotic rehabilitation, having undertaken multiple placements during specialty training.

Special Interests

Dr Agha has particular expertise in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and trauma rehabilitation, and the management of spasticity and pain. He supports patients through all stages of complex rehabilitation, from inpatient care to discharge planning and long-term follow-up.

His work includes neurorehabilitation for patients with acquired brain and spinal injuries, and functional restoration for patients with chronic pain and post-traumatic impairment.
