Medico-Legal Experience
Dr Pradeep Deshpande is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine with extensive clinical experience in neurological rehabilitation and disability management. He is now expanding his medico-legal practice and offers independent expert opinion in cases involving neurological injury and complex rehabilitation needs.
Drawing on more than 30 years of clinical experience, Dr Deshpande provides balanced and evidence-based opinions in cases involving traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke and other complex neurological conditions. His expertise includes assessment of long-term rehabilitation requirements, functional outcomes, disability management and multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning.
Dr Deshpande’s opinions are informed by his long career leading specialist rehabilitation services and his involvement in national clinical initiatives, research and guideline development in neuro-rehabilitation. He provides clear, structured reports that address the clinical issues relevant to personal injury and clinical negligence claims.
Clinical Experience
Dr Pradeep Deshpande has extensive expertise in the assessment and management of complex neurological disability, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis.
Currently Locum Consultant at Hull University Teaching Hospitals, where he has worked since 2018, Dr Deshpande also works as part of Smart Rehabilitation and is also a Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.
During his career he has worked at several major NHS rehabilitation services, including St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust in London, where he served as Consultant in Neuro-rehabilitation and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Wolfson Neuro-rehabilitation Centre. This specialist tertiary unit provided multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients with complex neurological conditions such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, brain tumours, peripheral nerve injuries and severe neurological disability.
Dr Deshpande has led multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams and played a key role in service development, including the establishment of specialist clinical pathways for neurological rehabilitation and spasticity management. His clinical practice has included specialist spasticity clinics delivering treatments such as Botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal baclofen therapy, as well as comprehensive rehabilitation programmes for patients with complex physical, cognitive and vocational rehabilitation needs.
In addition to inpatient neurological rehabilitation, Dr Deshpande has been involved in community rehabilitation services and disability management programmes. His work has focused on improving patient outcomes through coordinated multidisciplinary care, goal-based rehabilitation planning and the integration of hospital and community services.
