Medico-Legal Experience

Ms Michelle Kudhail is an experienced expert witness physiotherapist specialising in neurological physiotherapy and neurorehabilitation. She has provided independent physiotherapy expert witness reports since 2015 in personal injury claims and clinical negligence cases involving complex neurological injury.

Michelle is regularly instructed in cases concerning acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, Functional Neurological Disorder and progressive neurological conditions. She prepares clear, structured medico-legal reports for both claimant and defendant solicitors.

Her expert witness reports address functional ability, mobility, spasticity, gait, balance, upper and lower limb function, rehabilitation needs, care requirements and long-term prognosis. She contributes specialist neurological physiotherapy expert opinion within multidisciplinary medico-legal teams where required. As a neuro physiotherapy expert witness, Michelle provides independent opinion on how injury or damage to the nervous system results in muscle weakness, impaired movement and reduced independence. Her reports focus on how targeted therapy can improve function in patients and support realistic, evidence-based rehabilitation planning.

As a neurological physiotherapist expert witness, Michelle prepares condition and prognosis reports, rehabilitation assessments and physiotherapy opinion within her scope of practice. She has experience attending conferences with Counsel, preparing joint statements and providing court-ready evidence.

Clinical Experience

Neuro physiotherapy expert witness Michelle has over 30 years of clinical experience across NHS and independent neurological rehabilitation services in the UK, with earlier experience at the Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago. Her early career included rotational posts at Southampton General Hospital and senior neurological roles at the Royal Midland Counties Hospital before progressing to a long-standing Band 7 Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist position at Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital.

She has held senior leadership roles including Clinical Director and Registered Manager at Hunters Moor Neurorehabilitation Centre in Birmingham, where she established specialist neurorehabilitation and neurobehavioural services. She later worked as Director of Clinical Development for Neurological Services and Director of Clinical Excellence within specialist neurocare settings, and is also a Clinical Lead and Neurophysiotherapist at a leading neurotechnology enabled outpatient until with specialist equipment for neurorehabilitation. These positions involved leading multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation teams, developing complex care pathways and overseeing rehabilitation for individuals with catastrophic brain injury, spinal cord injury and complex neurological disability.

Michelle has extensive expertise in spasticity management and was among the first Allied Health Professionals to qualify in non-medical prescribing at Master’s level. Her clinical work includes botulinum toxin management, post-injection rehabilitation, splinting and casting. She has worked within a dedicated Gait and Movement Analysis Service for seven years, carrying out advanced clinical assessment and research. Her specialist skills include gait analysis, balance rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation and orthotic prescription through joint orthotics clinics.

Michelle specialises in high-quality rehabilitation and physiotherapy treatment for patients with severe brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes and functional neurological disorder. She is also experienced in treating individuals with progressive neurological conditions like multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease.

Michelle is experienced in spasticity management with non-medical prescribing qualifications, gait analysis and balance rehabilitation.

Alongside her extensive experience in her clinical roles, Michelle has delivered postgraduate training nationally for physiotherapists and allied health professionals and has presented at international conferences on neurological rehabilitation and spasticity management.

This depth of clinical and leadership experience underpins her authority as a neurological physiotherapist expert witness, particularly in high-value and catastrophic injury claims.
