Mr Pratipal Kalsi is a highly experienced spinal neurosurgeon who has been working in the medico-legal field since 2023. He uses his surgical expertise and academic knowledge to provide detailed and reliable medico-legal reports and expert opinions. He has completed the Bond Solon CUBS Expert Witness Training Modules and is awaiting accreditation.

Clinical Experience

Mr Pratipal Kalsi is an experienced spinal neurosurgeon specialising in adult degenerative spine disorders, minimally invasive surgery, spine oncology, spine trauma and infections. He has held several senior clinical roles and gained extensive experience managing complex spinal patients across diverse healthcare settings.

Since 2022, Mr Kalsi has been a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where he manages a broad range of spinal pathologies, including degenerative, trauma, tumour, and deformity cases, while also providing leadership in complex multidisciplinary care. Previously, he served as a Locum and Acting Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at the same trust from 2021 to 2022.

Before his consultant appointments, Mr Kalsi undertook three advanced spine fellowships at leading institutions. These included roles at Imperial College Hospitals Trust (2020–2021), the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London (2019–2020), and the University Health Network, Toronto, Canada (2018–2019). During these fellowships, he gained specialised experience in spinal trauma, craniocervical junction surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and complex spinal deformities.

In addition to his spinal specialisation, Mr Kalsi has a robust background in general neurosurgery, managing cases in trauma, oncology, CSF circulation, vascular, pituitary, skull base, and paediatrics. With over 2500 cranial and spinal procedures in his logbook, his extensive training includes Specialty Trainee roles at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (2016–2018), and James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough (2007–2010)..

Mr Kalsi’s clinical expertise is complemented by his leadership experience, including managing multidisciplinary teams, leading on-call services, and overseeing spine emergencies. His commitment to advancing patient care is evident through his broad surgical expertise, leadership in complex cases, and dedication to delivering high-quality care across diverse clinical settings.
