Medico-Legal Experience
Mr Poppleton is a highly experienced expert witness in clinical neuropsychology and has prepared expert reports for medico-legal purposes since 2018. He accepts instructions across a range of case types involving traumatic brain injury, cognitive impairment, behavioural change, executive dysfunction, neuropsychiatric complications, and rehabilitation need.
He is known for producing clear, independent reports that draw on decades of clinical experience and current best practice. His expert opinion covers diagnosis, prognosis, care needs, mental capacity, and functional outcome.
He maintains current clinical practice and ensures his medico-legal work remains up to date through regular CPD, including recent training in functional neurological disorders, trauma-informed care, and psychological therapies.
Clinical Experience
Mr Robert Poppleton is a Consultant Clinical & Neuropsychologist with over 30 years of specialist experience across brain injury rehabilitation, adult mental health, and neuropsychological assessment. He has worked extensively in both NHS and independent sector services, including complex inpatient rehabilitation units, community settings, and multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation programmes.
His career has included senior roles at the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital (CERU), Hunters Moor, Badby Park, and Grafton Manor. He has provided neuropsychological input for patients with traumatic and acquired brain injury, neurological illness, complex disability, and cognitive impairment in the context of psychiatric illness, ageing, or neurodegeneration.
Mr Poppleton’s broad clinical scope includes diagnostic assessment, rehabilitation planning, family support, and teaching. He continues to practise as a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist within specialist neurorehabilitation services and maintains active involvement in training and academic work
